– Universal Studios Hollywood & Florida
Fueling the company’s reputation for innovation and excellence in creating control systems for interactive displays, MediaMation was tapped by Irvine based Exhibit Works to create a first of its kind, custom-built “touchscreen interface through glass” for two promotional exhibits featuring Volkswagen’s 2007 GTI. The cutting-edge exhibits, located at Universal Studios theme parks in Hollywood, CA and Orlando, FL, center around an actual, driveable Volkwagen GTI, with both rear windows converted into touchscreen interfaces. The images are projected onto the actual car windows so the window itself becomes the touchscreen. The park patron interacts with the touch glass interface to find various information about the car and playback videos. The system is powered by MediaMations’ award winning ShowFlow™ software. High definition projectors and special screen material as well as custom touch interfaces allows the use of the odd shaped and curved window to be used as a standard touch screen. The company also installed an independent cooling system to each exhibit, necessary because the automobile’s own air conditioning is inoperable when the car is turned off. The Universal Studios Volkswagen project is among the most recent of dozens of interactive exhibit projects MediaMation has taken on in the last few years. Others include The Marion Koshland Science Museum in Washington D.C., the Toll Bros. Home Finder Center in Yorba Linda, CA and many others.
Mini Cooper Plasma Display
- MI fabricated a custom moving plasma for the Mini-Cooper. This moving plasma also came equipped with MPEG video clips which provided a 3D “X-ray” effect in real time. MMI also provided the mechanical fabrication.
MeadWestvaco X-Ray display
Under the auspices of Shepard Exhibition Services of Atlanta, GA, and packaging company MeadWestvaco, also of Atlanta, MediaMation was selected to help create a sophisticated 2-D “X-ray” effect, motorized plasma screen exhibit highlighting the features of MeadWestvaco’s bottling and packaging machine.
San Diego Sports Hall of Fame Exhibit
- San Diego, CA
Working with JexFX in San Mateo, CA, MediaMation was selected to provide 10 independent interactive sports exhibits. Each exhibit measured strength, speed, reflexes, or some other sports related skill. Real time displays and clocks relay the results to the participants.
